Randomness
I've been organizing pictures on our computer. Now, if I can just get them ordered, printed and put in albums, I'd be so happy. ANYWAY... I came across this one that I took while I was bored the other night, waiting for something to download on the computer. I never really think I look like my mom, but man, oh man... I do here. Must be the glasses.
*Mom, I need more pictures of you. I looked and looked to find one to post here to compare, and I came up with nothing. The only ones I have close up of you are ones where you are holding the boys while you were staying here after they were born. None of us were looking too spectacular then, so I decided not to put those up :)
Woo-double Hoo!
It is the little things that make me happy, really. Like watching the repair man drive away while being serenaded by the sweet sound of a humming washing machine. The timing couldn't have been worse this week when the washer stopped working and Kiefer starting throwing up... but no more worries. Now if Kiefer could just get some energy back, we would be all set.

Bug has a bug
Kiefer Bug has been sick since a sudden onslaught of a stomach bug yesterday. And the onslaught happened to take place in the Jeep. Of course. And then the kitchen. And then the bathroom. And then the crib. He didn't get sick after 3pm yesterday and held down 2 saltines and some water at dinner, so I gave him some cheerios and water this morning. Nope. Shouldn't have done it. Cheerios all over his Elmo couch. (Okay, no more details) But its so hard, because he's hungry and thirsty. Last time he had this, he didn't want anything, so there was no trying to explain why he shouldn't eat or drink. I gave him a couple of bites of Ray's grilled cheese at lunch, 1 cracker and water. I just couldn't help it. He wanted more, too. He was streaming tears, pointing at the sandwich. It's been two hours and he's peacefully sleeping- so far, so good.
I remember being sick as a kid (not this young of course), but I remember throwing up to be the worst. Its scary, its gross, and I feel there's nothing I can do to help him. I think these are the times that its sort of surreal being a mom. When I'm taking care of my sick baby, remembering what my mom would do for me. I'm the one that can comfort him and take care of him. I'm the one he reaches for when he hurts. I'm the one that wants to make him feel better.
And we feel bad saying this, but we enjoy how he is snuggly when he doesn't feel well. I sat and rocked him, while he was awake, for over an hour yesterday. I haven't done that since he was an infant. He wants to just sit on our laps and that is very unusual for him. So, even though he feels horrible, I am loving the extra snuggle time.
I am praying it skips Reagan altogether. I don't think that's been our luck once yet, but this could be the first.
(oh, and to add to the horribleness... our washer quit working. Hopefully its an easy fix for someone that knows what he is doing, but until then, I will be making another trip to Stacey's for laundry tonight)
(oh, oh... a big thanks to Aunt Rachel for babysitting last night in the middle of it all. We had a dinner obligation and she was a trooper. She got lucky because he kept his crackers down and she didn't need the extra t-shirt I put out for her. And she got the extra snuggles!)
(oh, oh OH! and by "obligation" I mean, a wonderfully-mouth-watering-couldn't-be-better-dinner-coupled-with-good-wine-and-even-better-company-experience. We HAD to go)

"Mommy's Leaving!"
I don't know how to interpret these particular instances. Either I'm lucky that Reagan and Kiefer don't cling-to-me-crying as I'm trying to leave... or they just don't really care that I'm leaving??? Either one, this is the picture I got last night as I was waving my hands, loudly proclaiming "Mommy's leaving!! You won't see me until tomorrow! I'm going bye-bye!"
Apparently, there wasn't much missing mommy going on after I left either.

"A tall iced coffee and do I have anything in my teeth?"
Am I the only one that doesn't know this?
I went through a Starbucks drive thru this morning and as I was at the window waiting on the drink, I heard the girl at the register say "That looks like the guy on the news." I was puzzled for one second until I looked in my rear view mirror and saw Charles Ely (from KTUL) pulling up behind me. Not "sounds like" but "looks like." They have cameras?! Am I seriously the only one that hasn't figured this one out? Well, besides Donnie. I called him with the breaking news so he would know to stop making faces at the Sunday morning barista at 71st and Memorial that finds a way to annoy us a little more each time we visit.
Okay, so its not breaking news. It might be common knowledge. And it really doesn't change my life. I'm not going to start touching up my lipgloss to order my iced coffee. I don't feel violated for being watched when I wasn't aware. And I really don't care if they can see me. But maybe I could try to look a little less (insert adjective to describe this face I'm making) when I'm trying to quickly decide between an iced chai, iced americano, or just plain coffee today. And I will for sure quit making this face (I wish I had the words...) when Sunday-morning-guy s l o w l y says "I g u e s s t h a t 's j u s t a p o p u l a r o r d e r" when we insist we didn't just order the same two drinks there the last time he worked. And hopefully I will be able to control my surprise reaction the next time I-love-my-job-guy screams "welcome to 81st and Mingo on this lovely day, how can I help you?"
I'm just sayin....

Happy Father's Day
Dear Daddy-O,
Today is Father's Day and we hope you have fun. We let you sleep in a little so we hope you liked that. Also, we shared our pancakes with you, that was pretty nice of us. We had fun playing with you at church, and we tried to be really good at lunch and ate all of our cheese sticks and pizza (thanks for sharing your cheese sticks). And we asked Mommy to write this to you while we took a really long nap so you could do whatever you wanted. We hear golf and baseball are on. We can't wait to have homemade ice cream with you later!
You are a great Daddy. Thank you for reading us books all day long. Thanks for chasing us and throwing us up in the air and tickling us. Thanks for letting us climb all over you. We love when you come home from work and give us big hugs. Sometimes we tease by running away, but we love your hugs! We love when you take us to the park and help us down the slide. Thanks for teaching us how to play ball and taking us on walks. Thank you for teaching us right from wrong, even though sometimes we don't like it! Thank you for being the funniest daddy we know. oh yeah, and thanks for the good looks ;)
We love you!!

Safety Dog
Our boys never had a "blankie" or anything specific that they seemed attached to when they were younger. Maybe because they shared almost everything? I don't know. I always thought it was sort of sad, but then I was thankful that I wouldn't be engaged in a tug-of-war with a tattered and overly loved blanket on the first day of Kindergarten. :) But my mom got them stuffed dogs for Christmas, and when I wasn't looking, they became attached. For a long while, they stayed in their cribs. Then the dogs started making their ways out to the living room in the morning. And on their Elmo couch for a movie. And sometimes, if one boy is crying, brother will run and get the assigned dog to help comfort. The dogs go on long road trips, and to overnight stays, and just recently, they even got to go in the car just across town.

You Say Tomato
Of course, right in the middle of my BLT cravings.... THIS.
Oklahoma is one (out of 16) of the states with reported illnesses, so be careful! I guess I'm okay if I stick with the vine ripe I've been eating almost daily.

I'm Lovin It
We usually head straight home after church to have lunch and get the boys in bed. (Reagan rarely makes the 7 minute drive without falling asleep) But today, 2 happy babies + 2 wide awake babies + 2 parents that didn't want to make lunch but still had to stay within the 30 minute napping zone = fun times at McDonald's.
(1. significant because up until today, Kiefer has refused to try ketchup. today he was a dipping-master. 2. significant because he has been avoiding the camera at all costs. today he was a posing-master. 3. funny because Reagan saw his brother posing, and this was his attempt to strike a pose 4. nothing significant or funny here really, just those gorgeous baby blues)

In a Pickle
I love pickles. They are a favorite food. (I'm not alone in this, as it seems to be a family thing.) As a kid, I would fill a cup with pickles and call it a snack. As an adult, I get giddy when I walk into a movie theater/skating rink/ball park and see the big barrel of huge pickles. I know I'm not alone in drinking the juice out of the pickle jar (admit it!). BUT I did think I was alone in making pickle popsicles. I used to pour the pickle juice into empty ice cube trays and suck on the cubes with complete satisfaction. I thought I was the only one craziest enough. Apparently Bob is, too. Check it out.
If only I had been a child entrepreneur.
side note: I recently read about a Pickletini. One part Pickle juice, one part Vodka. Sounds like a dream come true. I haven't tried it yet, but I have it from a good source that it is indeed yummy.

The Weekend
It has been a few days since I posted. Here's what I've been up to:
1. playing with the (3) boys at the mall play area when it was still 90 degrees at dinner time
2. meeting a weird-ish mom of twins who asked too-personal-when-I-don't-even- know-your-name questions
3. finding outside toys at garage sales
4. napping while the boys slept and Donnie got a haircut
5. eating at my f.a.v.o.r.i.t.e sushi place
6. laughing at Donnie ordering a Cosmo
7. trying the new Pink Berry rip-off, Fresh Berry, and being somewhat disappointed
8. chatting with my mother and father-in-law after their "babysitting" duties
9. shopping online
10. skipping the outdoor church service because of the dark storm clouds
11. replacing batteries in flashlights and lighting candles as the electricity went on and off
12. holding the boys at the front door so they could watch the (very heavy) rain and (very strong) wind
13. having an afternoon ice cream treat
14. watching a matinee of Sex and the City with my fabulous cousin Erica
15. reflecting on a great weekend
